Rally Trace privacy policy
Effective 17 October 2026. Rally Trace is made by Bitnik LLC (“we”), Woodfin, North Carolina. Questions: brad@bitnik.tech.
Rally Trace keeps score of pickleball games on Apple Watch and keeps your record on iPhone. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics services, and we don’t sell or share your data with anyone.
What stays with you
- Your games: scores, who served, when each game was played, and the names you give partners and opponents. They’re stored on your iPhone and Apple Watch and in your own iCloud account, which syncs them between your devices. We can’t see your iCloud data.
- Health data: with your permission, Rally Trace reads your heart rate, resting heart rate, active energy and date of birth from Apple Health to show effort and heart rate for each game, and saves each session to Health as a pickleball workout with heart rate and active energy. Your heart rate stays in Apple Health and in Rally Trace on your devices: your Apple Watch holds it while a session runs, and your iPhone keeps a copy of each game’s heart rate to show it. Rally Trace never stores health data in iCloud, and the games it syncs through iCloud carry none. You choose what it may read and write in the Health app, and can change that at any time. Health data is never used for advertising or shared with anyone.
- Contact photos: if you link a partner to a contact, Rally Trace copies that contact’s photo and keeps it on your iPhone only. It sees only the one contact you pick, and doesn’t read your other contacts.
Beta signup
If you sign up for the beta at rallytrace.com, the form asks for your name, the email on your Apple ID, your iPhone and Apple Watch, how you play, and whether you’d share motion recordings or be filmed playing. The form is run by Tally, which stores your answers for us. We use them to choose testers and send TestFlight invitations. We also use your name and email to send you email from Rally Trace: news, product updates and occasional offers, including offers from partners we choose. We send partner offers ourselves and don’t sell or give your details to partners. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Beta builds only
A TestFlight beta build first asks whether you want to share motion recordings. Only if you tap Share does it record each game and gesture practice and send us the recording, so we can tune gesture and stroke detection: your watch’s motion during play, when each rally and touch happened, the score and server of each rally, the watch model, the wrist you wear it on and the side its crown is on, the app build, a random ID for each game, and a random install ID that groups one install’s recordings. CloudKit also stamps each recording with the ID it gives your iCloud account for Rally Trace alone, which stays the same across your devices and reinstalls and doesn’t tell us who you are. Recordings carry no names and no heart rate. They’re stored in Apple’s CloudKit service, readable only by us, and deleted when the beta ends. A sent recording also stays on your iPhone for 14 days, whether or not sharing is still on, and is deleted the next time Rally Trace opens after that.
You can turn sharing off at any time on your iPhone in Rally Trace under Me › Beta › Share motion recordings. From then on nothing more is sent. Your watch stops and deletes the recording in progress as soon as your iPhone tells it, and any recording that had not reached your iPhone when you turned sharing off, or that your watch made before it heard, is deleted when it arrives, even if you have turned sharing back on by then. Recordings already waiting on your iPhone stay unsent unless you turn sharing back on. The App Store version never asks, records or sends any of this.
Purchases
Rally Trace Pro is a subscription sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we learn only whether your subscription is active, which the app checks on your device.
Deleting your data
Delete a game in Rally Trace and it’s removed from your devices and your iCloud, along with the copy of its heart rate on your iPhone. To remove everything, delete the app from your iPhone and Apple Watch, and remove Rally Trace’s data in Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage. Health data Rally Trace saved stays in Health until you delete it there. For beta recordings, email us the install ID shown in Rally Trace on your iPhone under Me › Beta, and we’ll delete every recording with it; note the ID before you delete the app, as a new install gets a new one.
Children
Rally Trace isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the effective date above.
